| | | | | | | | Prevalence — Present | April 17th, 2006, was the day on which Li-Jhen officially took the oath to become the Magistrate of Taitung County. It was a day of celebration, as well as the day she took on the duty to lead the county into the future. With over 60% support from Taitung residents, Li-Jhen always reminds herself to serve her people with the most stringent discipline and the most sincere attitude.
Being the first female magistrate in the history of Taitung, the people of Taitung have great hopes and expectations of the new administration. People’s hopes for a better future are the driving force behind our work teams because such responsibility demands total dedication.
“March forward and work for a better future” has been the war cry of Li-Jhen, and “innovative thinking and strategies” are the concepts of the new administration. Li-Jhen turns passivity into action and sets the standard for future female magistrates.
Being the pilot of the ship - Taitung County - Li-Chen is very proud. Global Views rates Taitung as one of the “most preferred locations to live in” every year. In September, 2007, Common Wealth Magazine published its ratings and Taitung was rated the Most Beautiful City. With its natural environment, Taitung is indeed one of the finest locations in Taiwan and its good qualities can be easily named.
However, for a long time, the east coast of Taiwan has not been developed equally with the west coast, and Taitung County became merely the “backyard” of the west. Being the Sunrise City, where the first sunlight of the nation shines, Taitung County was nominated as one of the best places in the world to see the first sunlight of the millennium, and indeed Taitung County hosted a Millennium Sunlight Party, in sync with the world, to usher in the new millennium. Therefore, Li-Jhen strives to rectify the position of Taitung County as the Garden City of Taiwan and lose the name - “Backyard” forever. | | | | Infrastructure and Indicator Policies to be accomplished: | | 1.
